The classic anecdote is that Norwegians are born with skis on their feet, but it’s perhaps more relevant to be born with a mobile phone glued to your hand.
Children and young people today are exposed to unprecedented media pressure, and digital tools are everywhere from birth. That’s why I’m asking questions about how digital media and tools contribute to the educational process, and how this helps to shape our identity:
To what extent do digital media and digital tools affect children and young people’s education?
“The educational process and digital media is something that interests me greatly. So it was natural that this thesis should be about exactly that. I started by reading a lot of literature on media, socialization and society in general, in order to find a good angle and problem. The topic is very extensive, so the main challenge has been to limit and refine the thesis.

Digital tools and a lot of exposure to advertising, games and violence are believed in some contexts to have an impact on children and young people’s socialization process and education. This bachelor’s thesis is rooted in theory in the social sciences, pedagogy and student knowledge as well as various theories in media and communication.
